Do you believe that social media can ruin relationships?

In today’s society social media plays a huge role. It is a place where people rekindle with old friends, vent or catch up on what’s happening in the world.

Why do we allow social media to have so much control over our lives?

Many couples run to social media with their relationship problems instead of communicating with each other. Why?

We have to stop letting social media be the dictator of our lives.

I’ve seen numerous of women and men become upset when their girlfriend/boyfriend doesn’t put them as their #MCM (Male Crush Monday) or #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday), they fail to change their relationship status from single to in a relationship or they don’t type a long post confessing their love to them.

Why do we need validation from our social media friends?

Many couples are inspired by “relationship goals” or famous couples. They try to live their lives like the couples they see in the photos. Thinking that their relationship is going to be the same. Everyone’s relationship is different. NO relationship is the same. The couples that we are seeing may be happy but they go through the same relationship issues. You never know what a couple is going through behind closed doors. It’s great to look up to couples but we should try to build our own.

Some couples believe that social media has caused trust issues within their relationship. Women and men are afraid that others are “sliding” in their spouses DM’s (direct messages) or vice versa. The likes, comments, messages and yes emoji’s from the opposite sex are causing arguments in many relationships.

Try to keep your relationship issues away from social media. Nothing will get solved by telling social media because now you have numerous of “relationship experts” telling you how to handle your situation.

Should we blame social media for ruining relationships or should we blame ourselves?

I would love to hear what you think in the comment section below.
